When a South Jersey utility company wanted to improve the communication and performance of their Cleaver-Brooks boilers, they turned to Delval Equipment’s Aftermarket Sales Specialist to get a recommendation.
Our Aftermarket Sales Specialist indicated that the customer wanted to upgrade their original, dated control system to a more modern system that also provides substantial energy savings. Delval specified and installed (4) Hawk ICS 4000 Advanced Control Systems. The Hawk 4000 comes standard with O2 Trim, parallel positioning and variable speed blower motor drives which all incrementally contribute to increasing the energy savings for the end-user. The user-friendly 12″ interface makes it easy for operators to navigate.
The control upgrade was performed and completed one boiler unit at a time to keep the customer online without any interruption in production.
Control Upgrade Added Benefits
The hot water boilers are utilizing a glycol/water mix as the heating media. The new Hawk controls, with the added protocol translators, enable the customer’s building automation system to monitor, communicate and trend not only the supply and return glycol temps, but each and every function of the boiler/burner control systems.
5% Energy-Savings
The clients are enjoying a minimum of 5% energy savings! Think about your facility’s annual energy bill and what a minimum 5% decrease would mean to your bottom line. The payback is the upgrade is realized many times in the first year. Besides the energy reduction, the operators are finding the expanded information the Hawk provides very helpful in understanding the operation and performance of the boiler and burner.
