Industry: Healthcare
Location: Northeast Pennsylvania
Equipment: (2) 1,000 MBTU Cleaver-Brooks Flextube (FLX) Boilers
Project: Steam Plant Expansion
Delval Equipment recently supported a hospital steam plant expansion in Northeast Pennsylvania with the additionof two Cleaver-Brooks Flextube (FLX) boilers. The project increases the facility’s steam plant to five boilers, delivering a total capacity of 1,195 HP to support critical healthcare operations.

Working alongside SourceBlue as the General Contractor and Worth & Company as the installing contractor, the project team successfully integrated the new equipment into the existing plant while maintaining the reliability required for a critical healthcare environment.

Advanced Boiler Controls
As part of the upgrade, advanced HAWK 4000 controls were installed with a new master panel to optimize plant-wide operation and sequencing. The system provides precise fuel-to-air ratio control with O₂ trim, integrated lead-lag staging, and a modern touchscreen interface designed to improve efficiency, safety, and operational visibility.
Equipment with Advanced Technology
The FLX boilers were selected for their five-pass bent watertube design, delivering up to 99.5% dry steam, strong turndown capability to respond to rapid load changes, and a compact footprint ideal for retrofit and expansion projects. Quick startup from a cold start and a 25-year thermal shock warranty further support long-term reliability.
Projects like this demonstrate how thoughtful plant design, integrated controls, and proven boiler technology work together to support dependable steam generation in critical healthcare environments. Additional updates will follow as Phase Two progresses.
