Delval Equipment is actively hiring for a Capital Equipment Sales Engineer who is responsible for driving sales growth in the Western Pennsylvania territory through the promotion, specification, and sale of industrial and commercial boiler systems, hydronic equipment, and related controls. This role combines technical expertise with sales acumen to develop new business opportunities, maintain existing client relationships, and expand aftermarket services. The position requires field-based work with clients, contractors, and consulting engineers while collaborating closely with internal engineering and support teams.
Capital Equipment Sales Engineer Essential Functions and Responsibilities, and Business Development
- Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities for steam boilers, hydronic systems, and commercial hot water equipment
- Conduct technical sales presentations to consulting engineers, contractors, facility managers, and end users
- Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline through proactive prospecting and relationship building
- Achieve quarterly and annual sales targets for both new equipment and aftermarket services
- Prepare and submit competitive proposals, including technical specifications and pricing
- Negotiate contracts and terms with clients while maintaining profit margins
Capital Equipment Sales Engineer Technical Sales Support
- Collaborate with the internal engineering team to develop system layouts and specifications
- Work with equipment manufacturers (Cleaver-Brooks, Camus, Intellihot, Grundfos) to provide technical solutions
- Review and approve submittals, ensuring compliance with project specifications
- Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine equipment requirements
- Provide technical guidance during installation and commissioning phases
- Support warranty and service issues as they arise
Capital Equipment Sales Engineer Client Relationship Management
- Maintain regular contact with existing clients to identify expansion opportunities
- Build and nurture relationships with key decision makers at hospitals, colleges, factories, and commercial facilities
- Coordinate with consulting engineering firms on new project specifications
- Develop long-term partnerships with major contractors and repeat customers
- Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and professional associations
- Ensure exceptional customer service throughout the entire sales process
Capital Equipment Sales Engineer Aftermarket Business Development
- Promote annual maintenance contracts and inspection services
- Identify opportunities for system upgrades, retrofits, and efficiency improvements
- Coordinate emergency repair services and ensure rapid response to client needs
- Work with the service team to develop comprehensive maintenance programs
- Expand welding repair services and replacement parts business
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field; OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1-3+ years of proven sales experience, preferably selling to commercial and industrial accounts
- Ability to work as part of a team (both leading and following)
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
- Disciplined work ethic with the desire for personal and professional advancement
- Organized with a strong sense of priority, urgency, and commitment to deadlines
- Self-motivated with strong work ethic
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to travel throughout Western Pennsylvania territory (up to 75% travel)
